Imagine my first relaxer; I was in love with that soft straight hair. This love led me to an obsession where I developed bad habits, like relaxing my own hair on a bi-weekly basis, placing the relaxer on my scalp, etc. If my hair complained it definitely did. Did I listen? No…I did not, until the day I looked in the mirror and I could literary count the number of hair on my scalp. Doing the big chop has taught me: Number 1. that it is just Hair, it will grow back but most important, I have learned; Perseverance (It requires daily attention) Confidence (It does not matter what others think) Self love (It is a major part of who I am just like my DNA) Are you dreaming of doing the big chop or transitioning to natural hair? I hope I can inspire you to learn the above lessons as you grow your own natural hair.
